Eucalyptus citriodora
The fresh, penetrating essence of eucalyptus is obtained by steam distillation of the twigs and leaves. This Australian native is an extremely versatile oil that cools and refreshes the body during the hot summer months and builds the immune system, protecting it from cold during the winter. Its powerful head clearing properties makes Eucalyptus highly effective in the treatment of congestion common to respiratory ailments. Its penetrating properties help to relieve tired, stiff, sore muscles and joints.
PROPERTIES: Strong antiseptic, antiviral, immune stimulant, decongestant, stimulating, clearing, refreshing, cooling.
BLENDS WELL WITH: Geranium, Lemon, Rosemary, Orange, Lavender, Peppermint.
PRECAUTIONS: Possible skin irritant, use in highly diluted form (2%).
For relieving congestion: Use four drops in a bowl of hot water for steam inhalation.
For purifying and disinfecting stale air: Its antiseptic and antiviral properties make it particularly useful in disinfecting the air especially when someone has been ill. Add eight drops of Eucalyptus to one oz. water in the atomizer or add to essential oil burner.
For reducing muscular pain: Blend eight drops with 1 oz massage base oil. Massage for sore, fatigued muscles to reduce pain caused by arthritis, rheumatism, or sport.
For energizing the workplace or study: Burn eight drops in an essential oil diffuser to energize and uplift in times of intense concentration.
For nervous exhaustion: Use up to four drops in the bath to help with exhaustion or migraine headaches.
