Black Pepper

Pepper has been used in cooking and as a medicinal for over 4,000 years, making it one of the oldest known spices. In ancient times, it was a gift worthy of kings and a major element of the spice trade from Asia to the west. Its aphrodisiac properties have been well recorded for thousands of years in many cultures. The oil of pepper, with its fresh, warm, spicy scent is steam distilled from dried peppercorns.
Pepper has a warming and stimulating effect which helps to increase circulation and warm cold hands and feet. It can stimulate the nervous system and reduce fatigue or serve as a stimulant for the digestive system, relieving indigestion flatulence and constipation. Black Pepper stimulates the processes of elimination and, combined with Juniper and Fennel, is good in a massage blend for reducing cellulite. Its warming effects can be used to effectively treat symptoms of rheumatism and sore muscles.
PROPERTIES: Antiseptic, restorative, mental stimulant, aphrodisiac.
BLENDS WELL WITH: Frankincense, Fennel, Rosemary, Lavender, Geranium, Basil, Cedarwood, Juniper, Lemon, Sandalwood.
PRECAUTIONS: Always dilute Black Pepper oil well with concentrations of no more than 0.5% to prevent skin irritation. Not recommended for use in the bath.
For a sensual room fragrance: Combine 2 drops Black Pepper oil and 4 drops Sandalwood in a diffuser to create an evocative room fragrance.
For relieving an irritated, sore throat: Use 2 drops of Black Pepper oil in a bowl of hot water for steam inhalation.
For improving mental focus and concentration: Use 6 drops Black Pepper oil in a diffuser to reduce mental fatigue and sharpen the mind.
For relieving muscular aches and pains: Combine 4 drops Black Pepper oil with twelve drops Lavender in 1 oz. unscented massage oil or Almond oil.
