MORE ABOUT THE HERBS IN THIS FORMULA: • Catnip (Nepeta cataria) was used extensively in Europe as a calming drink before black teas were introduced to England from the Orient. This herb effectively relieves stomach cramps and is slightly sedative with a gentle diuretic effect that increases gallbladder activity. Catnip has excellent pain reducing qualities. It has a constituent that is similar to those found in valerian, an herb that is well known for its sedating action.
• Meadowsweet (Filipendula ulmaria) is a moderately astringent herb that is a settling, salicin-rich digestive aid. • Fennel seed (Foeniculum vulgare) is antispasmodic, helps to increase proper gastrointestinal activity, calms mild spasms in the gastrointestinal tract, and reduces bloating. It works to effectively break up and expel flatulence. Fennel has been used in many cultures to prevent gas and stomach upsets.
